Civilian Management Committee

Under the constitution of the Air Training Corps (ATC), each Squadron must be overseen by a Civilian Management Committee.  The committee may comprise of parents of the cadets and friends of the Squadron.

The main purpose of the committee is to ensure local independent non-RAF control of the Squadron. The committee members concern themselves with assisting the squadron staff, providing independent guidance and direction to the Squadron and the raising and management of Squadron funds.

Whilst the buildings, infrastructure and a small amount of funding is provided by the ATC, all other expenses have to be met by the Squadron itself through cadet subscriptions and fund-raising activities. Fund-raising is therefore the prime focus of the committee.

The ATC is a long established registered charity and as such provides a number of benefits to fund raising. Any money raised through donations by UK tax payers allows ‘Gift Aid’ to be claimed through HMRC, increasing the value of the donation made.  Also, many companies and other bodies such as the National Lottery support charities like the ATC and will make donations and grants available on application.

Any parent of a cadet or friend of the squadron is more than welcome to become involved with the Squadron and help support the good work the Staff do for the benefit of the cadets.  All the staff are volunteers and many are in full time employment.  They give their spare time freely to the ATC and need as much support as possible to continue their work with the cadets.
