2009 was the first War and Peace that I had ever been to and it was so far the best camp that I have been on within the ATC. The camp only lasted a week in late July and we were expected to marshal the public away from vehicles and the vehicles into the main arena. The days were hard work and it was quite hot so we all felt exhausted at the end of it. After the main show had finished though was when we really started to enjoy ourselves as we either got rides in a Saracen or even trying to win a game of Tug-of-war against a tank! The week was especially good for three people though as they had their birthdays during the week. FS Wren and CWO Barker turned 20 and 19 respectively and got to drive a tank for it. I turned 15 but unluckily it rained the entire afternoon so I got another ride the next day. Late at night on Friday a whole team of helpers from all around the wing got involved and so we had a slightly relaxed Saturday where we could sit back and enjoy watching Vietnam re-enactments. Hopefully I’ll go on it next year and I recommend that those who can should come.
